Safety Program - MLE EquipmentManagement of MLE Equipment is vitally interested in the health and safety of its employees, and our major on-going objective is to protect employees from workplace injury or illness.

As an employer, MLE Equipment is ultimately responsible for and will make every effort to provide a healthy and safe work environment, constantly striving to eliminate the risk of injury and illness for the protection and well-being of our employees, contractors, business partners and visitors.

Communicating the Safety Message: Safety has become a culture at MLE Equipment through effective communication. We accomplish this in many ways, including:

  • Weekly safety meetings with all production employees, emphasizing important reminders through the use of video presentations
  • Monthly company-wide meetings include short presentations on current issues as well as instructional briefings
  • Annual formal Health & Safety training sessions are conducted for new hires and as refresher training for previously-trained employees

Health & Safety Training: MLE Equipment recognizes the value of annual health and safety training and provides its employees with professional training in over 50 critical H&S topics. We are proud to take a leading, proactive role in the development and delivery of contemporary and high-risk training, such as:

  • Energized Electrical Work based on the NFPA 70E and CSA Standards
  • Workplace Violence and Harassment
  • Lockout and Tagout Procedures
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials
  • HAZWOPER
  • Arc Flash and Electrical Safety
  • Forklift
  • Accident and Incident Investigations
  • Equipment Pre-Use Inspections
  • Fall Prevention and Protection

Health & Safety Inspections: H&S inspections are conducted:

  • Monthly by our Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Monthly by designated members of our management team
  • Weekly and monthly by our Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • Daily by our Production and Manufacturing Managers and Supervisors, and our Health and Safety Coordinator
  • Daily pre-use inspections by our certified workers

Health & Safety Program Audit: An annual audit of our Health & Safety Management System, based on the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s (WSIB) Workwell Audit, is conducted and scored.

The audit specifies and evaluates our organization’s legal compliance based on the written Health & Safety Program, as well as the communication and implementation of legally-mandated safe work practices and procedures and training.

To date all audits have received a passing grade.
