Cartridge filters consist of a filter, either a surface-type or depth-type filter, held within a pressurized housing. Surface-type filters, like pleated cloth filters, capture sedimentation on the surface of the media; these are typically used in applications where the particles will be of similar size. Depth-type filters are much thicker than surface-type filters, capturing particles throughout the entire depth of the media.
In a cartridge filter, water flows from the inside to the outside of the media; this allows for easy cartridge disposal.
Cartridge filters are used in numerous applications, from purifying potable water to pre-filtration for other filter processes. When selecting a cartridge filter, it is important to know the size of particle to be filtered, the fluid flow rate and the maximum fluid pressure.
MLE Equipment uses Filter Innovations cartridge filter housings. Please see the provided specification sheets and manuals for more detailed information on cartridge filters.
