Dissolved air flotation (DAF) units are typically used in the precipitation/clarification stage of a chemical treatment system. After coagulation/flocculation of particles, dissolved-air flotation units can be used as an alternative to gravity settling. Billions of micro-bubbles are introduced into the liquid in the DAF unit. The bubbles attach themselves to the clumps of particles formed by flocculation, transporting the “flocs” to the surface to be skimmed off.
DAF units are normally used when the “floc” or sludge is less dense than water, or neutrally buoyant.
MLE Equipment uses dissolved air flotation units designed by Filter Innovations. Please see the provided specification sheets and manuals for more detailed information on DAF units.
