Regenerative Vacuum Blowers

Regenerative Vacuum Blowers - Environmental EquipmentRegenerative vacuum blowers are ideal for applications requiring large air flow rates at relatively low vacuums.  The casing of the blower houses an impeller, which is driven directly by an electric motor.  When the blades pass the blower inlet, air is drawn into the unit.  Through centrifugal motion the air is accelerated outward, increasing the pressure.  The shape of the blower casing causes the air to be regenerated to the base of the following blades, where the process repeats; the regeneration of the air results in increased pressure.  Nearing the outlet of the blower, the casing reduces in size so that it is much closer to the size of the impeller – this forces the air through the outlet of the blower, rather than continuing to regenerate.

Most smaller regenerative blowers use a single impeller, but multi-stage blowers are available for applications with higher air flow rates. Although more common in vacuum applications, regenerative blowers can also be used for low pressure applications.

When selecting a regenerative vacuum blower, the required flow rate and vacuum are the most important factors. Back pressure caused by treatment equipment on the blower discharge must be taken into account. The electrical classification of the motor should also be considered.

MLE Equipment uses regenerative vacuum blowers manufactured by Ametek Rotron.  Please see the provided specification sheets and manuals for more detailed information on regenerative vacuum blowers.
