WINTER 2006 E-NEWSLETTER

Incorporation of MLE Equipment

Calco Environmental Group Ltd. (Calco) is pleased to announce the incorporation of MLE Equipment Inc. in Reno, Nevada as a sister company to Maple Leaf Environmental Equipment Ltd. The incorporation of MLE Equipment is another step in the plan to better support Calco’s continued growth in the United States. MLE Equipment Inc. will work directly with our established US network of highly respected sales and service partners to support the increasingly sophisticated requirements of our clients for remediation and industrial systems. The incorporation of MLE Equipment allows us to have a direct US presence for sales of equipment in the US, better enables us to provide the liability insurance that our customers require, facilitates the purchase of equipment and materials from our US suppliers and allows us much more flexibility in building our rental equipment fleet, a part of our business that continues to grow in both scope and importance.

Rental Business

Another rental system came off line in Florida this month.  This SVE and air sparge rental trailer was installed in March 2005 and after performing for 9 months on site with over 95% operating efficiency was removed and relocated to another site.

Our rental fleet has grown to include over 50 treatment systems along with a large variety of rental components that can be included for your rental requirements.  Our rental fleet includes a wide selection of SVE / air sparge systems, medium and high vacuum extraction systems with integral water processing systems, high flow dewatering systems, air stripping water treatment systems, catalytic oxidizers and vapor phase carbon treatment systems.  We also offer a selection of pilot treatment systems ideal for short term pilot rentals.

Please contact us for your next short and medium term projects.

Venturi Flow Meters

A venturi flow meter works by forcing air through a cone shaped constriction in the process piping and measuring the difference in pressure between the restricted flow and the unrestricted flow. This difference in pressure is then used to calculate the flow rate through the pipe by using the Bernoulli equation.

Venturi flow meters have several advantages over other flow measuring devices:

  • Lower pressure drop than orifice plates
  • More accurate than pitot tubes
  • Easily mounted in pipe
  • Not easily plugged

MLEE VFLOW series venturi air flow meters are designed to be a cost effective, accurate flow meter that is calibrated for your site-specific conditions. MLEE uses your site operating temperature and pressure or vacuum along with the site altitude to provide a calibrated meter reading in ACFM or SCFM at your unique operating conditions.

MLEE VFLOW meters are fabricated from aluminum and have a streamlined venturi profile to reduce pressure losses through the meter. Copper tube connections are capable of handling temperatures as high as 250 deg F. A Dwyer magnehelic ® gauge provides a large, clear and accurate display of your airflow reading and is customized to match your required CFM scale. Each calibrated meter is fitted with a calibration label listing the design conditions that the meter is calibrated for. The VFLOW meter is available in sizes ranging from 1” up to 8” to cover a wide range of air flows.

Please contact MLEE for further information on how you can use a MLEE VLFOW meter to enhance your next remediation system.
