Rotary claw technology has been used in many industries for decades, but has become commonplace in remediation applications in the last five years. Rotary claw vacuum pumps offer many advantages over traditional high-vacuum technologies like liquid ring pumps; rotary claw compressors also have a place in remediation, specifically in air sparge applications. This paper explains the operating principles of rotary claw vacuum pumps, compares performance with liquid ring pumps, and offers insight into current and potential applications of this technology.
